A local guide, an armed park scout and a camp crew travel with you. You carry only a day pack.

Day by day
Day 1 Fly to Gondar and drive to DebarkDebark
A morning flight to Gondar, then a drive up to the small town of Debark, the gateway to the park. We register at the park office and meet the trekking team.

Day 2 Debark to SankaberSankaber
The first day’s walk along the escarpment edge, with your first views over the valleys and the first gelada sightings.

Day 3 Sankaber to Geech via Jinbar FallsGeech
A longer day taking in Jinbar Falls and wide viewpoints. The camp at Geech sits at about 3,600 metres.

An early walk to the Imet Gogo viewpoint, one of the finest in the park, then a slower afternoon at camp.

About this tour
What is the altitude?
Camps are between about 3,000 and 3,700 metres. The itinerary includes time to adjust, but altitude affects people differently; tell your guide at once if you feel unwell.
Do I need my own sleeping bag?
Tents, mattresses and meals are provided. A warm sleeping bag (rated for around freezing) is best brought from home, or can be hired on request.
